Spurred by NH Supreme Court case, NH House considers bill to keep sex assault victims’ pasts private

NH1.com has the story.

The New Hampshire House Judiciary Committee heard testimonies in support of a bill to strengthen rape victims’ privacy rights.

This legislation was introduced in response to a recent New Hampshire Supreme Court case in which the man who raped and killed UNH student Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott appealed his conviction before the high court. Seth Mazzaglia’s defense argued that irrelevant claims about the Marriott’s sexual past should have been admitted at trial.
